A love story right out of…Jane Austen!

Filed under: Paraliterature — Mags @ 6:44 pm

Several Alert Janeites sent us a link to an article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer about Pamela Aidan, the author of the Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman trilogy (reviewed for AustenBlog by MJ Ryan). Every correspondent mentioned that the article stated Ms. Aidan met her husband when he wrote to her in response to her first postings–as Mr. Darcy!

We’re still sitting here waiting for Henry Tilney to write to us…hrmph. ;-)

Thanks to Alert Janeites Julie T, Katie, and Jessica Irene for sending the link!

Julie T and Katie are you going to attend this event? I am going to be there and meet Pamela if the snow here in Seattle allows me to get to an assembly such as this.

  2. Laurel Ann Says:

Wow, Janites in Seattle? How diverting! I would love to attend, but unfortunately, I will be working at the rival bookstore in Lynnwood that shall not be named. Third Place Books gets all of the best signings. Please have a delightful evening whilst I endevour to persuade teenage girls to read Northanger Abbey instead of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants! Cheers, Laurel Ann

  3. Jessica Irene Says:

Ahhh, I think I know the bookstore you mean….does the smell of modish chinese food float through the door? Are there Alderwoods about, or were formerly? Actually this Janeite is on nearby Whidbey Island, a land even more barren of Jane worship than yours…I am braving a ferry to hear Pamela read from These Three Remain! Keep working at those girls…

  4. Laurel Ann Says:

OOOOooo, no on the Chinese food whafting, I wish, wrong mall, but quite close! The bigger bookstore down the street, that does not have a store on Whidbey, but everywhere else, it seems! I can’t wait to divert those young ladies tword Mags new book. They will love to learn how to be Catherine or Lydia! Great concept. I am expressly eager to read it myself. Maybe Mags will concent to a reading at Third Place Books also. Can we show her the town whilest she is here? OOOOooo, what a thought!!!!Have fun at the reading.

  5. Mags Says:

I would LOVE to come and visit you but I don’t think an author tour is in my future! I’m on the wrong coast! :-)

  6. Jessica Irene Says:

Mags you never know how big you are going to get! You just won a customer service award after all (congrats!). You may come to Seattle yet.

  7. Katie Says:

I will try to make it tonight but I just flew back in from CA this morning and I cannot remember if my babysitter is scheduled for my normal Thursday night out or not… fingers crossed she shows up at 5:30, otherwise, alas, I shall not be making the trek.
