NORTHANGER RANCH screenplay a finalist in Gloria Film Festival

Filed under: Screen — Mags @ 7:55 pm

We are delighted to report that Heather Laurence’s screenplay NORTHANGER RANCH is a finalist in the Gloria Film Festival! NORTHANGER RANCH is, as one might guess, a modern-set adaptation of Northanger Abbey. We had the opportunity to “beta read” the script and enjoyed it very much, even if Henry Tilney IS a tax lawyer. (Sorry, private joke. Nothing against tax lawyers, really.) Heather has posted an excerpt from the script. Oh, what a Henry!

Thank you very much! :) I hope people enjoy the sample.

Actually, I put Henry back the way he was, so he’s a patent lawyer again (Patent lawyers are just that much sexier. ;) ). I read Jane Austen’s Guide to Dating to my Tax Lawyer-in-Residence, he tested as a “Colonel Brandon”, and he was so pleased to think that he was comparable with Alan Rickman that he has dropped the Henry Tilney jealousy thing for now. (We’ll just let him think that …) ;)

Patent lawyer has tech-geek value. I like the idea of Henry being a gadget geek for some reason.

Thanks for posting that sample, it was very enjoyable. Frederick is very naughty, I like the part about “Eleanor’s friend” makes me wonder what happens behind the scenes of Austen’s novel. :)
