A Persuasionesque soundtrack
Thanks to all who posted comments to our call for assistance with assembling a soundtrack of songs from the film version of Persuasion. Teresa has assembled many of the pieces into an iTunes i-mix called “Persuasionesque,” and invites all those interested to download it (don’t worry; it’s legal–and you’ll have to pay around $1 a song, unless you have lots of those Pepsi caps).

I thought about it again and again.
First I have to say: You are quite right Nan, there is a tune called “The Happy Captive” on “The Pemberley Collection Vol 2″ by The Pemberley Players. How could I oversee this? But this “The Happy Captive” seems to have nothing to do with “The Happy Captive” used in P&P2 (which is the same like the posted midi-File). Listen to “The Happy Captive” by The Pemberley Players and to “The Happy Captive” used in P&P2. May be I’m not very musicous, but I think it’s not the same tune. There are Dance Notations on this “Pemberley Collection Vol.2″ There they wrote:”In the BBC series the dance was performed in 40 bars of music…”, but this make it not clearer to me.
And the second is: I’m not really sure if “The Happy Captive” is really played in “Persuasion”. And so again listen to the dance they play in Persuasion. One can think so, but I’m not really sure. I think it is inspired by “The Happy Captive”

I had never heard the CD by the Pemberley Players, so I must plead ignorance on that point. How about this one, The Dusky Night? That, apparently, is the tune that the Happy Captive uses. When played, this sound very much like the dance that Anne plays.
