Tuesday Open Thread: Fake Jane Edition

Filed under: Open Threads — Mags @ 6:57 am

It’s time once again for the Tuesday Open Thread, in which we post links to items that don’t quite call for a full post, but we think our readers might find interesting nonetheless.

Actually this item probably would have merited a full post, but since Alert Janeite Ben, who sent it in, suggested it for the Open Thread, we thought we would oblige (and we have nothing else to post anyway this week): Five terrible fake Jane Austen novels. For the record, we would totally read Funk and Functionality.

What’s new in your patch of Janeiteland?

How serendipitous! I had “fried and credulous” last night, and then watched “Sense and Sensibility” again.

Well, after taking my first born back to college a couple of days ago, I’ve been wallowing in Cried and Tremulous. Sigh.

One of the Blackadder seasons featured similar titles. (rummages for DVD) Season 3 episodes: Dish and Dishonesty, Ink and Incapability, Nob and Nobility, Sense and Senility, Amy and Amiability, and Duel and Duality. Hugh Laurie as the Prince Regent. Great stuff.

    Thanks Mags!

As for fake JA’s: I’m currently reading Emmacakes. It’s a cookbook.

I’ve been working at a bookstore this summer and today at work I overheard some 18 year old boy call Jane Eyre “just a chick book.” I was so appalled.

  6. James Says:

Ok then Mccain was starring in Sence and Senility?or Dish and Dishonesty?
