P&P without human interference

Alert Janeite Sylvia sent us a video of Pride and Prejudice in alternate reality…

And if you prefer your Jane Austen a little more low-concept, Alert Baja Janeite sent us a video of a cartoon cat reading the first chapter of P&P. No catch, that’s exactly what it is.

Nibbles has a very relaxing voice, doesn’t he?

And next…Guitar Hero IV: Austen Rocks, where we can all strum music from the various soundtracks :)

  2. Julie T Says:

I found both to be excessively diverting, but was amused to find that, even in this incarnation, I still loathe the KK version of P&P.

As for Nibbles, he seems to have also read MP — didn’t he say that Mr Bingley “agreed with ‘Mrs Norris’ [rather than Mr Morris] immediately”??????

  3. Cinthia Says:

You are not alone, Julie. Me too, I started watching this clip, but once I heard the voices, I closed it. I could submit more easily to watch MP2, MP3 and even NA1 or P3 than P&P3 again.

That first one was done using the game “Sims 2.” My sons and I have been “Sims” players for a decade at least, and I play enough Sims to know that this represents an absolutely astounding amount of work. I’m talking on a scale of months to develop this. What a labor of love!

I recognize the draperies and furniture as stock “buy-mode” items; the windows, wall-papers, trees, fountains, and hilly terrain are stock “building-mode” items; reading books, conversing, and holding hands are stock “play-mode” actions.

But sheesh, the carriage alone must’ve taken hours and hours. I recognize the seat as a stock outdoor bench, but to elevate it, and then build the wheels and the folding cover bit-by-bit! The hairstyles, the bonnets, all the clothing was done by hand. And how in the world did the creator animate the Sims to play cards?

My dears, I’m simply overcome. (Fanning self rapidly.) Now, where did I put that fainting-couch?

  5. Bobbie Says:

Oh, and I agree about the voices. I just turned the sound off and watched it again. :-)

  6. Laurie Viera Rigler Says:

The cartoon cat definitely has a relaxing voice. I want him to read all of P&P to me.

  7. Ally Says:

Mr Nibbles is fantastic…I wish I could get an audiobook of him reading all of Austen’s books…
And I agree with the voices in the P&P Sims video….I was enjoying it until I heard the voiceover and the flashbacks of the horror of watching that film came screaming back to me…

    Oh!

That’s my P&P sims 2 movie! I’l glad you liked it!!
It took a long time, actually. But I loved the story and watching the final result was rewarding.

    Hugs!

  9. Baja Janeite Says:

Congrats, Sarah! That was quite clever! How many hours did it take you to create?

  10. Sara Says:

It took me 11 hours: decorating the houses, making the movies, editing them…
    2 nights from 11 pm to 4am and a morning, from 06am to 7am.
