Jane Austen Ball at UCLA

Filed under: Austen Societies and Events — Mags @ 7:26 pm

Alert Baja Janeite sent us a link that indicates the 11th Annual Jane Austen Ball will be held on May 31, 2008, at UCLA. The link to the Jane Austen Ball is broken, but try this page, which is no less confusing and offers no more information. It is unclear if this is limited to students. If anyone finds out more, let us know.

Okay, so I googled this, and found this link: http://www.calendar.ucla.edu/event_detail.cfm?MeetingID=149709

This one talks about the Romeo & Juliet ball, but the description I believe applies to all balls, including the Jane Austen one (listed there, as well).

I am assuming more news is TBA. :)

This event is not limited to UCLA students. You can wear a regency dress, but most people don’t. The main focus of the evening is teaching dances. At some other events in the series, they take a break between the dancing and have a concert of music from the period, but I don’t think they usually do that at the Jane Austen Ball. RSVP to Catherine Brown at cbrown@library.ucla.edu.
