Miss Austen Regrets available on Region 2 DVD on March 24
Alert Janeite Helen B. wrote to let us know that Miss Austen Regrets will be available on Region 2 DVD on March 24, 2008.
We wonder if that means it will be shown on television around that time? Hmm.
And look! Cover art!
We’re just posting stuff now to take up space so the title of the next post doesn’t overlap on wide-screen monitors.
That’s much better.

March 24… that’s still weeks and WEEKS away. Is there by any chance any brilliant person in the UK who DVD-taped this and would be willing to burn and mail me a copy. I will cover DVD and postage costs!

Mags, you can put <br clear=”all”> at the end of the post and it will ensure that the following text will not be overlapping.

(confused) I thought this would be attached to the S & S dvd? If this is to be released on it’s own that’s great!

Tabatha, that only counts for the region 1 DVD, I believe.

Karenlee, I don’t think they’ve broadcast it yet in the UK. I’ve been looking out for it and havem’t seen anything. It was shown in the States on the same day as the superbowl.

It was absolutely included in the BBC’s Autumn 2007 Drama programming (www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2007/07_july/11/bbcone_drama.shtml), but, unfortunately, I cannot track down the exact date.

Karenlee, despite the press release, it has NOT been shown in the UK yet.

Really?! Then I guess/hope there’s a chance it will be in the not too distant future. Shall keep my eyes open. Although I must say it’s rather odd that a BBC production would not be shown on the BBC first.

Update: some kind soul has posted the start of the movie at You Tube, showing the proposal at Manydown, and Jane and Cassandra’s hasty departure the next morning as the opening credits are shown. A few people (myself included) have expressed our delight in the comments and asked if they would please, pretty please, post the rest. Keep your fingers crossed!
