It’s turning into the Decade of Jane Austen

Filed under: Screen — Mags @ 5:06 pm

Alert Janeite Amo found a reference to scriptwriter Lucy Prebble adapting Lady Susan for the Beeb…let’s see where this goes. We think it could make a really interesting film.

ETA: Don’t get too excited, Gentle Readers…this is by no means definite. We’ll keep an eye on developments, naturally.

    Awesome!!

I think Lady Susan deserves to be adapted, so I hope this rumour is true!

I recently started to adore Lady Susan and think it should be respected as much as JA’s other major novels. It’s a lovely story and would be excellent as a film!

I love the idea of a film version of Lady Susan, but like anything else, it needs to be a *good* adaptation. Not “fixed” or “modernized” or just plain dumbed-down for drooling slackers.
