Putting the old grey poney to shame

Filed under: Online — Mags @ 12:51 am

Alert Janeite Allison T., who has been known to do a little country dancing* from time to time, sent us a link to two incredibly awesome clips. The proprietors of Jeremy’s Ranch English Riding School don’t just teach conformation and jumping to their young pupils, oh no; they also learn English country dancing. The first clip, set to the tune “Miss Gray” from the S&S95 soundtrack, juxtaposes horses jumping in time to the music with the young ladies dancing down a set; and in the second clip, which is truly fantastic, some of the young ladies dance to “All Around My Hat” on horseback! Try that, Mary Crawford!

(”From the French contredanse“–O RLY? Thanks, Lady Obvious!)

Hey, Mags - this is totally off topic - but I finally managed to get a copy of your book, and it’s lovely! I think JA would approve. :)

  2. Caroline Says:

Oh, what fun videos! well done, Allison!

( Must admit, though that I do prefer the original of All Around My Hat- this version is pretty, but Maddy Prior’s vocals would have been so distinctive, and I was hoping to see the horses pound in time to the bass guitar. Oh well, we cannot have everything, can we? It was very prettily done, and getting all those horse to work togetehr is a feat in itself.)

Now, what were those squirrels doing?

  3. Mags Says:

    Thank you, Elaina!

Caroline, the squirrels just wanted in on the fun!

  4. Tamara Says:

Oh to be young again and able to go to such a riding school! sigh

Um isn’t pony spelled without an E?

    Not in Jane Austen. ;-)
