AustenBlog...she's everywhere

No, really, she’s EVERYWHERE. Really.

Alert Janeite Jen found a reference to Jane Austen on a blog post about the author Ben Okri.

“I realised you cannot evoke a place truly till you find a tone, a narrative, in tune with the dimensions of that place. You can’t use Jane Austen to tell stories about Africa.”

Oh, you’re just not trying hard enough. ;-)

    Hi Mags,

You gave me a good chuckle with your links — thanks, I needed that today! I just watched my poor, beautiful, relatively new (2003) car [which I have named "Jane Austen" because it is the most beautiful car I've ever owned (family tradition to name cars!)] get towed to the mechanic because it wouldn’t start — what a drag! So you brightened up my day, thanks.

P.S. Enjoyed your WHYY radio appearance very much, and finished your book last night. It was GREAT, and it is also quite BEAUTIFUL (not to mention ELEGANT)!

    It’s true — she’s everywhere!
