An Announcement
AustenBlog.com is completely payola-free. If we endorse something or give it a positive review, it is because we genuinely liked it and thought our Gentle Readers would as well, not because of a quid pro quo arrangement of any kind. We recognize that everyone does not share our taste; as Miss Woodhouse said, one half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other.
No one involved with this blog receives a penny for their work on it. Reviewers receive review copies of books, but as some authors can tell you, that does not guarantee a positive review. Many of our book reviews are of books that the reviewer purchased or borrowed.
Thank you for your attention.

First time I read this I thought you wrote that “AustenBlog.com is completely paranoia-free.”

*looks around shiftily*
Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean everybody isn’t out to get you.

“I’m not paranoid, but everybody thinks I am.”
Now what about Dorothy? Does she not receive compensation for fetching tea and an occasional stray cluebat? Is she union?

I’m confused about Dorothy. Is she a real person or some kind of imaginary maid? I hope I don’t sound too dumb…

Oh, she’s real alright!!
Every respectful gothic lover must have a helper called Dorothy!!
Without her help and lamp you’ll lose the way

Dorothy, like Jeeves, endeavors to give satisfaction, and her compensation is the pleasure of a job well done. Kind of like a house-elf.
Kathleen B., I borrowed Dorothy from Mr. Tilney’s Gothic parody, because I thought the fabulous high-tech AustenBlog World Headquarters needed a dogsbody/factotum. You can read about her here. Once again leaning on a Harry Potter reference, just because it’s in your head doesn’t mean it isn’t real.

oops! that should read;
‘every self-respecting gothic lover’

You mean there’s *MONEY* to be made from poor dear dead Jane?!!

Da-yam. (Note to self: must rework marketing plan for book promotion when/if published.)

Any special reason for the announcement Mags? Did some author get their knickers in a twist because they sent a complimentary copy and got a less-than-glowing review?

Well, yes, but that’s not why I made this post.
It’s just an attempt at transparency that I have not seen at all blogs.
