Jane Austen: J.K. Rowling’s Secret Ingredient

Alert Janeite Natalie sent us a scan of a blurb from an article in Entertainment Weekly about J.K. Rowling’s “Secret Ingredients”–her influences while writing the Harry Potter novels. Our Gentle Readers can probably guess one of the influences.

    On J.K. Rowling’s official website, if you click on the reading glasses, you are taken to another area of the website represented by a bookshelf. Some of the “books” link you to other places. Others show, what I suspect to be, Rowling’s favorite books and literary influences. Both Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice are on the bookshelf.
