Austen Season Advertising to begin Feb. 26

Filed under: Mansfield Park 2007, Northanger Abbey 2007, Persuasion 2007 — Mags @ 7:29 am

Alert Janeite Sylvia M. mentioned it in comments, and then Google Alerts sent us confirmation that a cross-media advertising campaign for ITV’s “Jane Austen Season” will be launched on February 26.

The M&C Saatchi-created outdoor ads will be unveiled on February 26 across London to promote the three ITV adaptations. Press ads will appear in The Observer Magazine, Independent on Sunday, the Mail on Sunday’s You Magazine and Sunday Times Culture.

Keep an eye out and send your cellphone photos and scannage to AustenBlog! Also check out the link for a new NA photo–hard to tell as we are moblogging on a tiny screen, but it looks like the siblings Morland and Thorpe.

ETA: Teeny tiny infinitesimal Fanny and His Lordship.

The link doesn’t work. Thanks! :)

  2. Franka Says:

    For me it doesn’t work either… :(

  3. Amo Says:

the link is funny - all you need to do is open it in another window, and then remove the “austenblog.com” but from the beginning

  4. Franka Says:

Here’s the link, I just found it on Pemberley!

The picture is tiny indeed! If I’m not mistaken it shows (from left to right) Henry Tilney, Catherine Morland, Isabella Thorpe and I think James Morland, but it might also be John Thorpe…

Anyway, it must be fun to live in London and see those posters all around! On the other hand… JA televisionadaptations seem to be officially mass media now. :S

  5. Mags Says:

Sorry guys–incompetent copying and pasting. The link is fixed.

  6. Laurie Says:

Franka the gentleman on the left is indeed John Thorpe and how like his sister he seems. Carey Mulligan looks so perfect as Isabella! James & Catherine look so much like real brother and sister it’s just lovely! :)

  7. Kathleen Says:

Will be on the lookout here in London for any advertising stuff I see and try to report back to AustenBlog. That is a pretty picture. Of all the upcoming adaptations, I am most looking forward to NA. No, the version with Mrs Allen sewing her fingers together and a Mr Tilney whose ‘muslin’ scene plays out as if he sews up a couple of yards to make a frock for himself doesn’t count.

  8. Mandy N Says:

I’ll be pleased to have more NA2 pictures for my file… This picture reminded me of the NA-Wishbone cast !

  9. Julie P. Says:

Carey Mulligan is Isabella? After her turn as Kitty Bennet, I had thought she’d have made a good Catherine Morland.

  10. Heather L Says:

FYI, the link to the old ITV teaser trailer (featuring mostly NA2 scenes) is no longer operative, but for now at least, the trailer is still up on ITV Media’s main page (click on ITV1 Winter Highlights). I’m guessing it will be replaced by the new advertisements, so if anyone wants to see it one last time, act quickly.

  11. Maisy Says:

Agree, Julie P. But I think it could me a lot more fun to play Isabella! :)

  12. Charo Says:

Hi! Does anyone know if they will publish a DVD of the adaptations?
    Thanks.

  13. Franka Says:

Yes Charo, they will! :) You can read about it here: http://www.austenblog.com/archives/2007/02/14/mansfield-park-2007-northanger-abbey-2007-region-2-dvds-available-for-preorder/

  14. Charo Says:

    Thank you very much, Franka!
I admire Jane Austen and have read many of her books, as well as I have seen many films about them. I admire Sally Hawkings, too. I hope the DVD (Persuasion) will also be published in Spanish.
I’ll continue to check this website to see any news about the Jane Austen Season. I hope it is successful both in Britain and the rest of Europe.
