Okay, this act of lending support to refurbish his old town theater makes me feel a tiny begrudging amount of respect towards Julian Jarrold, though this quote in the article makes clear how universally accepted this John Spence version of Jane’s life is Becoming:

“Becoming Jane tells the story of the love affair that inspired Jane Austen to become a writer. When the 20-year-old Austen meets the brilliant, roguish young Irishman Tom Lefroy, she falls in love. This little-known story was the turning point in Austen becoming the greatest romantic writer in English literature. Her romantic adventure with Tom inspired many of the male characters in her novels.”

The story is “little known” because it is not true! Maybe we should call this movie “Jane Becoming Something Else.”

£18, you have gotta be kidding me. I will stick around for March 6 and pay the normal £7.30 thank you!!
