Janeite Eyewitness-on-the-Spot-News-Reporter Adrienne was vacationing in Ireland this past August when she happened across the filming of the new NORTHANGER ABBEY adaptation in Glendalough, County Wicklow. She shared a couple of photos from the filming with AustenBlog.

Henry dispenses wisdom to Catherine

Miss Tilney lags a bit behind

We are stunned at the verisimilitude achieved by filming next to the big lake. It’s just like the one at Beechen Cliff!

I’m very much looking forward to this new adaptation. Next to “Persuasion,” it’s the one I really can’t wait to see. The casting looks spot on and I have high hopes for JJ Feild’s Henry, Felicity Jones’ Catherine and Liam Cunningham’s imposing General T.

The walk pictures are indeed pretty. Agree the main cast like JJ Feild, Felicity Jones and Carey Mulligan are capable of delivering the goods under the right direction. Hope I can recognize AD’s NA2 as Jane’s Northanger Abbey… Hmmm… Sedley ? Check third Regency buck on left ?

Can’t wait for this version to come out. Thanks for the pix!

That’s so exciting that NA is filming there! I visited Glendalough in October. The lakes are so beautiful there. If you would like to see more pictures of Glendalough here’s a link (it’s photos 9-27) http://westmont.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2007850&l=68cd0&id=65800360
