Props and costumes from MANSFIELD PARK (1999) being auctioned on eBay

Filed under: Online, Screen — Mags @ 6:04 am

Alert Janeite Elizabeth wrote to let us know that costumes and props from the 1999 adaptation of MANSFIELD PARK are being auctioned on eBay. Just in time for Halloween…you could be the Regency Morticia Addams! Or go for the Anglican schoolgirl look! ;-)

ETA: Several of the costumes are marked as “worn by Andrea.” Who the heck is Andrea? There’s no character or actress by that name in the film…hmm.

Also, it should be noted that the proceeds of these items will go to charity.

Paul from KeiraWeb was kind enough to record the behind the scenes segment about BECOMING JANE on the BBC’s Film 2006 and has set up the file for download.

Take our word for it: shouting at your computer doesn’t make the Made Up Story go away. :-D We did, however, get a giggle over the presenter’s pun on Persuasion. Well played, sir!

Tickets will range from $29-39 and will go on sale on March 1, 2007.

PERSUASION 2007 filming tidbit

Alert Janeite Chantel let us know that a poster at the IMDB forum for PERSUASION 2007 was an extra in the film and posted a bit about the film.

Rupert Penry-Jones seems very dashing as Capt. Wentworth and all the cast are much younger than before. My main surprise however was that no one wore Naval uniforms, or any miliatry uniforms for that matter (I was playing a Colonel!) We shall see what happens next week when we do the scenes at the Assembly rooms!

Anne Elliot is played by Sally Hawkins, who was recently seen in “Finger Smith’ on BBC TV. I expected her to be older but I think she’ll be very good.

Filed under: F.O.J. (Friends of Jane) — Mags @ 12:28 am

Alert Janeite Paola sent us a link to an interview with the novelist P.D. James (in Italian) in which she says that, like her character Adam Dalgleish, she loves Jane Austen.
