Alert Janeite SylviaM wrote to tell us that the IMDB is listing Amanda Hale as Mary Musgrove in PERSUASION 2007. It looks like this will be her first film, but she had lots of stage experience at RADA. We have not been disappointed with any Mary Musgrove on film thus far and do not expect to be this time. She’s such a great character!
The IMDB page also lists Maisie Dimbledy as Harriet Smith (!). (If they had to give Mrs. Smith a first name, must it be Harriet? Are they perhaps unfamiliar with the other Harriet Smith in the Austen oeuvre, one wonders? And is there some relation to Captain Harville’s newly-bestowed Christian name of Harry? V. curious.)
Sylvia also reported that an extra from the film posted on the IMDB forum.
Just been working on ‘Persuasion’ filming one of the last scenes which I won’t spoil, but it goes beyond the last TV production (and the novel).
Chew on that for a while.
