Rupert Penry-Jones confirmed as Wentworth
In case you didn’t see the edit to our original post, the Clerkenwell Films site (coincidentally, once again, after we asked for confirmation on the blog! How lovely and, um, prescient of them ;-)) have confirmed that Rupert Penry-Jones will star in PERSUASION 2007, along with Julia Davis. No word on which role they will have, though by now we can safely assume that Mr. Penry-Jones will play Captain Wentworth. We think Julia Davis looks just like Miss Elliot ought.

IF they really read this blog, it would be fun if they’d post something… I mean, I read an interview with the producer of Jane Eyre on a Brontë-blog once. So why wouldn’t the producers of (one of) the new Austen-productions don’t write anything on the AustenBlog???

You never know, Franka. Though I would think anyone involved with “Becoming Jane” might be reluctant to participate here.
As to who will play whom, we can all hope. Here’s a bit of twisted Austen for ya, Mags: “Your [blogging] will be seen as a confirmation, if indeed such a report exists.”

I think casting is really important; and Persuasion is my favorite Jane Austen novel.
I really like the casting of Rupert as wentworth very much.
But im very unhappy as to the Sally Hawkins as Anne. She just doesn’t look like Anne Elliot.
I really really wish they could cast someone like Justine Waddell - she did excellent in “Wives and Daughters”.

Just been to a costume fitting for Persuasion - day wear and evening wear. Alas they didn’t want dancers but it looks as there will be a ball scene in this adaptation. Filming is first week of October.
