EMMA musical in NYC in October; music available for download

Filed under: Stage — Mags @ 2:47 am

Brontëana wrote to tell us that Paul Gordon has made the demo songs from his musical adaptation of EMMA available for download. The entire play is avaiable for $10 or 99 cents for each song. (The whole album is a better deal…and we are pleased to see that there is to be no waltzing at Hartfield! Mr. Woodhouse could not take it!)

Also, the play has been chosen to be part of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre’s Festival of New Musicals on October 8 and 9 in New York City. One of our Gentle Readers was just saying that she wanted Jane on Broadway…

LOL! Speaking of the waltz, I just found a tract from 1892 on the evils of waltzing (via Metafilter)

It’s called From the Ball-Room to Hell

  2. Mags Says:

Wow, 1892? I thought they were pretty much resigned to it by then…this should be good!

  3. Brontëana Says:

That tract was awful! It’s a wonder anyone danced after reading that (and what would he make of what is considered decent today?!)

  4. Melissa Says:

I think I agree with some of what the author of that tract said, though I’m quite sure it didn’t go half as far as he said, most of the time (I sure hope it didn’t).

I really like most of those Emma songs. Would be neat to see it on stage.
