Extras wanted for BECOMING JANE

Filed under: Becoming Jane — Mags @ 10:48 pm

Attention Janeites in the Dublin area: Here’s your chance to experience the Made Up Story up close and personal!

THE producers of ‘Becoming Jane’, filming in Trim and Dublin, are looking for extras for their Jane Austen period drama. The feature is directed by ‘Kinky Boots’ director Julian Jarrold and stars Anne Hathaway as a young Jane Austen. Filming is taking place around Dublin with transport provided from the city centre.

Contact Laura or Martina on 086 3870210 immediately if you are interested.

If you get in, don’t forget to share the backstage news with your pals at AustenBlog! Can we manage a Screenplay Exchange Program, do you think? No?

And parenthetically, from the rest of the article it looks like our Brontëblogging friends will be sharing our pain shortly…Michelle Williams as Charlotte Brontë?

Yes! Probably a lot of pain. :)

I have to admit I can get behind the idea of Jonathan Rhys Myers as Branwell. Oh yeah.

lol I have a list of ‘Brontean Demands’ which I ought to post somewhere. I really wouldn’t want to see a big-screen ‘love affair’ between Charlotte and Monsieur Heger. That could very well go down the ‘Becoming Jane’ road, since she actually has characters based on him.

Has there been a hideous Austen biopic yet? They have one for the Brontes. It’s called Devotion. In it the beauteous Charlotte and her wild but probably only slightly less stunning sister Emily fall in love with the sexy new curate, who is in love with Charlotte. Emily and Charlotte are BOTH inspired to be writers and, naturally, both of them use the sexy curate as their muse(s?). But when it becomes clear that she can never have his love, Emily obligingly dies.

There was even a radio adaptation of it with Vincent Price as Arthur Bell ’sexy curate’ Nicholls. :)

Heh. We posted about this weeks ago. I must confess I was a little puzzled but now (brainwashed - me?) I’m starting to sort of see her. Make up and stuff can work wonders sometimes so I’d rather wait and see. Unlike your *Made up Story* we are yet at a stage where we can hope (against hope?) that everything will be quite true.

Incidentally there is already a good biopic called Les Soeurs Brontë which might get people screaming *Made up Story* but it’s quite good actually. Except for the ending.
