It’s JA time on BBC7!

Filed under: Audio — Tasha @ 6:42 pm

Alert Janeites Julia and Lynne wrote to tell us that in addition to broadcasting MANSFIELD PARK (which we posted about previously), BBC7 is also doing broadcasts of EMMA (from Thursday the 30th to Saturday the 1st at 10 am, 9 pm and 2 am) and PERSUASION (from Monday the 3rd to Thursday the 6th at the same times). From the looks of it, Juliet Stevenson (from E2 - thanks Julie P!) will be featured in PERSUASION.

It looks like BBC7 is a Friend of Jane, even if V.S. Naipaul isn’t!

Question — who will Juliet Stevenson play? Lady Russell?

One nitpicky thing — I think that Juliet Stevenson was in E2, not E3.

  2. Tasha Says:

Oops! You’re right, Julie! I don’t know why, but I’ve always thought that she was in E3. Gives me a good excuse to rewatch it, though . . .

  3. I. Miller Says:

Other fun connections - both Mr. Collins from the last two adaptations of Pride and Prejudice are in Emma - Tom Hollander is Frank Churchill, and David Bamber is Mr. Elton.

  4. Julie P. Says:

How interesting is that! They can compare notes. ;-)

I loved Juliet Stevenson and Alan Cumming as the Eltons. I thought that was truly inspired casting.

As for Tom Hollander as Frank Churchill, it’s a good thing this is a radio play because I just cannot picture him as Frank. Oh, off-topic — I just ordered Enigma, with Mr. Collins/Frank Churchill, Mr. Darcy, Marianne Dashwood and Sir Walter Elliot.

For those who wish to save the programs, you can use NetTransport to save the audio files.
