Who’s afraid of the big bad Janeites?
Jane Austen purists — whose feathers you do not want to ruffle, trust us — are miffed Anne Hathaway (”The Princess Diaries”) has been cast to play the English author in the forthcoming “Becoming Jane.”
Yeah, go crawl under the bed, Grandma. Jane Austen is not for wimps!
(And is it just us or does Anne Hathaway totally look like Julia Roberts in that photo?)

I’ve come around on the Anne Hathaway thing - she is a good actress, after all, and who knows what good makeup and a decent vocal/accent coach will do? And she has some good fellow actors to work with. But the plot, oh dear, the plot. As if a romantic fling was the most defining moment in Austen’s life! I hope Ms. Hathaway can rise above it!
