Northanger Film Company producing science fiction movie
No, AustenBloggers, it’s not a modern-set fan fiction; it’s real life!
The Northanger Film Company is currently shooting an independent science fiction film called ZORG AND ANDY on location in Indiana.
Wilkens plays Colette in Zorg and Andy, a feature filmed at Wabash College last week. Colette is the leader of a cult of economics professors who want to achieve tenure through the power of a sandstone idol named Zorg.
No, it’s the Cult of Da Man. DA MAN! DA MAAAAAAN!!!!
Northanger, named after Jane Austen’s novel Northanger Abbey, has been in business for a year.
This makes us so happy, you have no idea.

Love the 200 hissing cockroaches. That’s a behind-the-scenes featurette begging to be made.

Ahoy Beetle Wrangler,
There’s a link in the post to a newspaper article about the film. (The words “is currently shooting”)

I think the beetle wrangler is amazing!
I think Austen blog is cute to talk about Zorg and Andy!
I think Jen Wilkens did a great job (though stayed away from the beetles).
Northanger Productions should be proud!
PS. It’s not really a science fiction movie.

I was trying to figure it out from the article–what kind of movie is it, then? It’s not horror, is it? (Though that would fit with the “Northanger” name.)

awww, thanks, beetle stabbing victim.
mags, the most accurate description i’ve heard so far is ’supernatural comedy in the tradition of ghostbusters’…although i think there are moments that are definitely woody allen-ish..

Mags,
Me and the beetle wrangler go way back. I threw myself in harm’s way to save her pretty neck from the beetle’s evil intentions. The movie is actually a romantic comedy about people who are anything but romantic. It does have a supernatural side and maybe a little scary at times but we’ll have to see how much of that ends up on the cutting room floor.
I’m sure Jane Austen fans everywhere will be big fans.
