Hello,
I just tried to order this through the link that you gave. They asked me for the usual information (credit card number, etc.), which I gave them. Then I was unable to complete the order. My request for help was met with a response that Lulu.com is not online. Is this a scam? I hope not.

I’ve ordered from Lulu.com before. They are not a scam. Probably the site went down when you were in the middle of asking for help. Try it again. I’m sorry you had trouble!

AHA! Marlene, looks like they did a code update just today, so you might have run into a glitch in their new system. I would suggest that you contact customer service immediately. If you have an account, log in and see if the order shows up, and contact them through that page.
Let me know if you still have problems–I feel responsible!

Hello,
Thanks for the advice on Lulu.com. I guess I picked a bad day for this order. I will try again tomorrow and see what happens.
Best,
Marlene

This book was first published in 1998 and was completely unobtainable, so this new edition is very good news. I ordered it from Lulu on Monday, and my order was despatched yesterday (Wednesday) via USPS.

Hrmph. I ordered mine on Tuesday. It says “Printed” but it doesn’t seem to have been shipped yet. I got the cheapest postage possible, though (USPS media mail).

I’m thinking they got a rush of orders, so printing, assembly and despatch has slowed down…. the author could have placed this with a regular publisher, I think, because interest in this area is a lot greater now than in 1998!

True; but using Lulu she can update it regularly. I kind of wish she would offer it as an e-book. I wouldn’t mind paying $3 or $4 every year or so for an update.

*hair turns white* This is a nightmare for librarians & bibliographers. What exactly constitutes a new edition? Potentially, every time it is “printed on demand” it could be a new edition (thinks: yet another excuse for retirement)

Hmm…maybe you should write to Ms. Scott and tell her to mark any updates as a new edition!
I should be clear that I don’t know if she’s planning to update it regularly, I’m just saying that she *can.* And suggesting that it makes sense to do so.
There’s an update of publications related to Jane Austen in Persuasions Online every year, but that includes everything, not just sequels etc.

I ordered my copy successfully despite my initial problems with Lulu.com. Thanks so much for your good advice!

I will update in about a year. So far I have heard of two very minor errors. There are also a few new short stories since publication. If anyone knows of any genuine sequels that are published and omitted, please tell me. I do hope that people willl find this publication useful to them.

Hi Jenny! Mine has been shipped, I’m looking forward to getting it.
Yearly sounds good.
I would have NO idea what has been omitted! Unless it’s on my shelf! Which is possible!!!
And you know new stuff is coming out all the time. I do not envy you this task, but I’m glad you have taken it on.
