Pemberley Shawl pattern available

Filed under: Online — Mags @ 11:25 pm

For the knitters out there, we happened across a pattern for a “Pemberley Shawl,” which the site says is appropriate for beginning knitters.

The name seems arbitrary, as we are fairly certain that shawls in Jane Austen’s day were made from fabric, not knitted, but it certainly is a very pretty item. Unfortunately the Editrix, though she is an obsessive crocheter, cannot knit to save her life!

ETA: Alert Janeite Stephanie just wrote to let us know that there is an “Elizabeth Bennet” shawl pattern available as well.

Party on!

Literatease is offering t-shirts with sayings taken from novels, including one from Mr. Weston in Emma: “One cannot have too large a party.”

It may be a trifle blasphemous, but we actually really like the Jane Eyre shirt!

Top 10 Reasons Why the Editrix has not been posting much lately

Filed under: Housekeeping — Mags @ 7:46 am

From the home office in Chawton, Hampshire…

10. Sulking because no one likes the new layout

9. Recent demand for multiple lumps o’snark resulted in embarrassing shortage

8. Busy buying Powerball tickets so she can buy No. 4 Sydney Place and evict the squatters currently living there

7. In hiding from readers demanding final chapter of “The Mistress of Pemberley

6. Assisting Julie B. in planning commando raid on Chatsworth to steal bust of Matthew Macfadyen (oh, were we not supposed to mention that? Ooops).

5. Mr. Tilney keeping her “busy” lately, if you know what we mean

4. Writing lengthy letters to Emma Thompson demanding meeting at dawn over “divine goddess” scene

3. Spending all her time at RickSteves.com (and you all will be pretty well off, when the Editrix has gone away to be happy at Bath!)

2. Dorothy on holiday, no tea, cannot cope

(drumroll)

And the number one reason why the Editrix has not been posting much lately:

1. Two words: Flying Tomato
