“Mr. Willoughby” on Saturday Night Live
Saturday Night Live had a skit related to Jane Austen: a trailer for a new film from “Jane Austen’s last, unfinished book, Mr. Willoughby.” Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch and guest host Scarlett Johansson, dressed in outrageous (and rather Victorian style) wigs and exceedingly frilly Empire gowns, enumerated the many charms of “Mr. Willoughby,” including wax-caked ears, moles on his neck, and an unnatural interest in the choir boys of “Upper Cornholeshire.”
It was mildly amusing at best, though interesting for its apparent commentary that Hollywood will sell anything with the Jane Austen™ Brand on it.

I was searching the web, and was so excited when I came upon a blog that was dedicated to Jane Austen and her amazing work. Not only did you all create such a wonderful site, but also talk about more than just the new “Pride and Prejudice.” So many of my friends have finally seen the light after the new version came out, but few realize how wonderful Jane Austen’s stories are through her other novels like “Persuasion” and “Northanger Abbey.”
I love Jane Austen and everything she has written! Thank you for finally making a blog about this great woman and her works.

My email is still acting up- sorry to post my news in this way, through the comments, but in case you didn’t know, Masterpiece theatre has an upcoming production of Sense and Sensibility. My latest post has all of the info there is so far, I’m afraid- but I’ll get on it (there’s also another new Jane Eyre, you see
