Legacy Austen Films

Filed under: Screen — Mags @ 8:23 pm

Alert Janeite Robin, being the good librarian that he is, sent us a fabulous link about British television films and series from the British Film Institute, including part of the 1967 PRIDE AND PREJUDICE series starring Celia Bannerman and Lewis Fiander. You can view an entire 23-minute episode as well as a couple of shorter clips.

Check out other series by decade. (teehee–Roger Moore as Ivanhoe!)

ETA: Oh poo. You have to be in the U.K., and at a library or school with a license to view the films. Ah well, hope you all enjoy!

Drat! You have to be in the UK, and they arent accepting any more licenses until the 10th of January. Do you think if I lie, that they’ll know? I really would like to see those clips!

  2. Chantel Says:

Not FAIR!! Only for those in UK! Ugh. I haven’t ever seen anything of this film. I don’t think you can get it anymore, even on VHS.

  3. JuliaB Says:

maybe someone who is in the uk and able to watch it can capture ist somehow? *wishfulthinking*

Not to play “can you top this?” but I posted something about this very same program last week. I’m so very disappointed I can’t access it. Methinks a trip to London is in order…

  5. Mags Says:

I think that’s why Robin went looking for it, Julie.
