My ten year-old son made a birthday cake out of Legos for my Jane Austen action figure, and a table for her little writing desk, too. What a guy.

Happy Birthday Jane! May I say you look rather good for 230!

I like to look at those pictures of Jane that Cassandra used to draw, and imagine, especially in that one where she’s sort of gathering up her skirts and her back is to you, that she’s right about to turn around and say something along the lines of “It is a truth universally acknowledged…”
::sigh:: Happy Birthday, dearest, loveliest Elizabeth. I mean Jane.

Dear Ms. Austen,
You have brightened, and enhanced, my life, in so many ways. We are all better for having read your work. I know that you are looking down at us, and I hope that you are pleased. Happy birthday!
Fondly,
Meghan
P.S.- I hope that you were not too distressed by the latest motion picture version of Pride and Prejudice.
