Jane Austen and the Golden Globe of Fire

Alert Janeites Teresa and Robyn wrote to tell us that P&P3 has snatched up a few of those precious Golden Globe nominations - “Best Musical or Comedy Picture”, and “Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical” for Keira Knightley.

Other Austen-related nominees:

Ang Lee (director of S&S2): Best Director, Best Picture for “Brokeback Mountain”

Gwyneth Paltrow (Emma in E2): Best Dramatic Actress for “Proof”

Judi Dench (Lady Catherine in P&P3): Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for “Mrs. Henderson Presents” (also nominated for Best Musical or Comedy Picture)

Hugh Laurie (Mr. Palmer in S&S2): Best Actor in a TV Drama for “House”

Donald Sutherland (Mr. Bennet in P&P3): Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for “Human Trafficking”,
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for “Commander in Chief”

Naveen Andrews (Balraj in B&P): Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television for “Lost”

    Isn’t this great? I really hope P&P will win both Golden Globes!

    Oh, and you forgot to mention among the Austen-related nominees that Polly Walker (Jane Fairfax in Emma 1996) is nominated for her role in ‘Rome’! :-)

    Oh, well since we are getting all technical, the awards were announced this morning by Kate Beckinsale (Emma in E3).
