Greetings to Chicago Sun-Times Readers
We have previously linked several articles detailing general travel sites in the U.K. of interest to Jane Austen fans as well as specific sites of interest to fans of the new film of P&P, and normally we would not link another article that repeats the same information, but this one mentions AustenBlog so we feel obligated.
And we hope that Chicagoites enjoyed your recent city-wide wallow in Jane Austen.
However, as a Persuasion fan, we are distressed that there was no mention of Lyme Regis as a destination! We are still sad that we were not able to get there on our recent trip. (Of course, it gives us an excellent excuse to return.)
For Jane Austen fans, we strongly recommend a visit to Jane Austen’s House Museum at Chawton in Hampshire, if you do nothing else in the U.K.

I wasn’t able to get to Lyme either on my trip back in September. An excellent excuse to return indeed!

Read here

that Emma Thompson did a final re-write of the screenplay. Hadn’t heard that before, and frankly it is rather surprising. She did star in a Jane Austen movie . . .

Emma Thompson?! Saw the movie, never read the book before. Loved the movie totally, so I tried to read the book and fell asleep. Sorry, it was a bit dull.

Well then, Lauren, I dare say the film was made just for you then.
