Scotland loves Jane
…though not as much as they love the Brontë sisters, apparently.
The Edinburgh Evening News reports that almost two-thirds of Scots credit teachers with instilling a love of reading. 25 percent of the respondents named Pride and Prejudice as the third most influential book that they read at school (Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights were one and two).
The Herald, reporting the same story, complains that there aren’t any Scottish writers on the shortlist.
