Decorate à la Jane

Filed under: Jane in the News — Mags @ 10:34 am

Alert Janeite Vanessa wrote to tell us about a home decor fabric collection by Nina Campbell for Osborne and Little. The fabrics are called Meryton, Pemberley, Longbourn and Middleton. (Click on “Next” to see the other fabrics.) These fabrics would look lovely on the furniture at AustenBlog World Headquarters.

What? …. Hmmm.. Commercializing Jane Austin. What next? Colouring books? Dating game? Barblie-like castles? Darcy and Jane barbie sets with optional accessories? This can not be happening!!!

Oh, that ship has totally sailed. Did I mention the Jane Austen Action Figure?!? ;-) (I love mine. LOVE IT.)

And in this case I think it is less commercializing Jane Austen than a designer being inspired by her work. They are not marketing these things using Jane Austen’s name in any way. You have to be “in the know” to know that the names used came from Jane Austen’s work.

    I for one think they’re lovely. :)

Jane Churchill fabrics also has an Austen collection, sometimes available on e-bay, though not very nice compared to the O&L.

    Just a snippet of trivia.
