We were not able to download it, as the gerbil on the wheel inside the computer at AustenBlog World Headquarters positively rebelled, but Alert Janeite Sophia J. assures us that it is hilarious.

Sexy Mr. Darcy

Enjoy! :-)

Yet Another P&P Adaptation . . .

Filed under: Stage — Tasha @ 6:23 pm

Surprise surprise! Playbill has announced that two readings of I Love You Because, a new musical based on good ol’ P&P, will take place on July 24th at NYC’s East 13th Street Theatre. For all the non-thespians out there, a reading means that the performance will be a basic reading of the script - without props, costumes, etc. A reading for a musical also means that the only musical accompaniment will be a piano. Nonetheless, readings can be just as good as the real thing, especialy when the cast is as talented as the one they’ve rounded up for this reading - such as Stephanie D’Abruzzo of Avenue Q and Michael Minarik of Little Women, to name a few.

Even though we can safely assume our readers are familiar with the basic plot, here’s the plot summary Playbill provided:

The musical . . . “follows Austin Bennet, a young greeting card writer whose life is turned upside down when he finds his girlfriend in bed with another man. He is sent back out into the treacherous New York dating scene where he meets Marcy, who’s spontaneity is matched only by her ability to drive Austin insane. What ensues is a comedy about love that explores the rules and nuances of dating and how sometimes love is learning how to love someone not in spite of their differences, but because of them.”

Admission for the readings is free, but reservations seem to be required. As always, if you make it to this event, please let us know how it went!

Comments should be back to normal
