I’d love to answer any questions about “Dating Mr. Darcy,” since I had the fun privilege of being the author. For starters, it’s aimed at young women (teens & twenty-somethings) and focuses on the theme of self-discovery in the search for one’s own Mr. Darcy. It also includes quotes from Jane Austen’s prayers as a way to discuss some of the spiritual issues central to the art of self-reflection, just for a slightly different take on things. The book is scheduled for release June 1 from Tyndale House Publishers.
Incidentally, does anyone else anticipate the Keira Knightley version of P&P with a mixture of half-fascination, half-dread? I’m not sure what to think…

Very cool! Ask away, everyone…and now we have an author Web site to visit as well.

Oh, and that pretty much describes my attitude toward the new P&P. I have to say I’m mostly looking forward to it, because I think it will be pretty good; but I’m not as enthusiastic as I’ve been about other adaptations, and I’m not sure why. I think because I didn’t like the costumes much from what I’ve seen in the paparazzi shots. The studio stills are much nicer, however.

Yes, the costumes are odd, but the HAIR is what really gets me. If I can refrain from attacking the screen with a comb, it’ll be worth watching Dame Judy Dench as Lady Catherine — is that GREAT casting or what? Of course Maggie Smith would be another awesome choice. Anyway, if the movie manages to interest a whole new generation in Jane Austen, it gets my kudos. Let’s hope it succeeds in that regard.
