Anne Hathaway to star in Jane Austen biopic
According to contactmusic.com, Anne Hathaway, star of the PRINCESS DIARIES films, has been cast as Jane Austen in the upcoming biopic. The article at contactmusic.com says the film is called BECOMING JANE but we understand from the studio’s Web site that the film currently has a working title of JANE AUSTEN–meaning the final title will most likely be something else.
We are not yet treating this as definitive news, so we recommend that Janeites hold off on the gnashing of teeth and the rending of garments until confirmation is received.

I love Anne Hathaway. She will make a spectacular Miss Austen, I am sure!

I am actually feeling positive about it. She’s not an obvious flavor-of-the-month choice, which is a good thing.

And I can’t stand Anne Hathaway! She’s way too modern for my tastes (I felt like she stuck out like a sore thumb in Nicholas Nickleby) — too middle America mall girl. Ugh!
