Aishwarya Rai to appear on Letterman

Sify.com reports that Aishwarya Rai, star of Bollywood’s BRIDE AND PREJUDICE, will appear on David Letterman to promote the movie.

The interview, to be aired on the 9th of February, comes two days ahead of the US premiere of Rai’s film Bride and Prejudice. The Emmy Award-winning programme marks Rai’s first appearance on an American late night talk show.

The former Miss World was last month profiled on CBS networks 60 Minutes programme with an interview taped in Mumbai.

However, this time, Rai will be seated on stage at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City to chat with Letterman about her first English-language movie. Bride and Prejudice, directed by NRI director Gurinder Chadha of the Bend it Like Beckham fame, puts a Bollywood spin on the Jane Austen classic Pride and Prejudice. The film also stars actor Martin Henderson, Naveen Andrews and Anupam Kher.

Once again this Cub Reporter wishes she would have sprung for that DVR.

    Just call me Mike’s Matchmaker
I’ve been reading all about Mike’s love affair with Aishwarya Rai for the last several weeks, and I thought I’d link him to blog-buddy Mag’s Austen Blog (where Aishwarya news is blogged on regularly) so he can keep up on

I’m going to a sneak preview of B&P a week from tonight!!! *Cabbage Patch of Janeite Joy*

Ash didn’t meet expectations, particularly after Dave raised them to the point of being the most famous actor in the world, and the most beautiful woman in the world… the preceeding guest didn’t help when he referred to Will Smith as the world’s biggest star. She was inept at casual conversation and too pointed in her responses, which lacked charm. Poor Ash, I still love you.

I thought she was great. Dave asked dopey questions (as is his custom–though I love him, he IS a doofus) and was the typical Clueless American. I thought she put him in his place quite well and in a most Lizzyesque (or Lalitaesque, if you will) manner!

Oh, and as far as that “biggest star in the world” thing goes–we’re getting a TON of hits today from people looking for info on Ash on Letterman. More than we ever got for La Knightley, believe it or not.

I agree with you, Rome. Right on. I actually missed letterman, stupid me and had to search for it. If anyone wants to download it, its here: http://www.freewareweb.com/lettermanfeb8.shtml
