Central Park is let at last!
Attention all New York Janeites! Another Saturday Night in New York, a modern-day, gender-reversed musical adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice” is being presented on January 25 at the Donnell Library Theatre. The production notes describe the plot summary as follows:
“Austin Bennett, a greeting card writer who walks in on his girlfriend with another man. He heads back out into the treacherous dating world of New York City with only his brother to guide him. Despite his brother’s utter incompetence, Austin meets Marcy, whose spontaneity is matched only by her ability to drive Austin insane.”
Playbill.com, which contains information about ticketing and directions, also announces that Stephanie D’Abruzzo from the hit musical Avenue Q will be one of the cast members. If anyone sees this production, please let us know what you thought of it!

I’ve got the entire upcoming schedule for the Donnell Library (here: http://www.nypl.org/events/branchevents.cfm?location=107 ) and it says absolutely NOTHING about this production. I hope they’re wrong, because it sounds like fun!

Julie, I was about to e-mail you about this. Give them a call, it does sound like fun!

I’ve also checked the show’s own website (given at Playbill.com) and get a blank screen. I’m thinking that I should call the library itself. I am considering going, even though that’s the night I meet the group of women who are teaching me to knit.

The phone number they gave is for a monastery. They’re Paulist brothers affiliated with St. Paul the Apostle Church. I tried it twice.
I’m going to my knitting group instead.
