Pease Public Library in Plymouth, New Hampshire will conduct a five-part discussion of the development of the modern mystery, beginning on January 25.
The series will begin with a look at the roots of the mystery story in Jane Austen’s parody of the Gothic tradition in Northanger Abbey.

The first discussion will feature Northanger Abbey. A film version of the book will be shown, and the discussion will be led by Joan Bowers, faculty member at Plymouth State University.
We dare say that will get them in the Gothic mood.
