Jeopardy answer
Last week, this Jeopardy answer was given as part of the Title Characters category:
Jane Austen described this 20-year-old as “handsome, clever, and rich.”
Alas, one of the contestants answered, “Who is Mr. Rochester?” I’m sure the gentle readers of AustenBlog can do much, much better.

Was Rochester described as handsome?

At first, I imagined it was Mr Darcy, as he fits the description :-D, until I remembered that Darcy is 28 years old.

Is it Emma?

It is indeed Miss Woodhouse, from the (brilliant) first line of Emma:
Just as good, though perhaps not as well known, as the line about single men of good fortune.
Actually, all of Jane’s novels have pretty good openings. They put you right into the story.

And another thing–how is Mr. Rochester a “Title Character?”

Well, I’m sure the contestant was rushed and thought about the “character” part of the category name, not the “title” part.
