BRIDE AND PREJUDICE to be released in Pakistan

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tasha @ 2:59 pm

The Daily Times in Pakistan reports that BRIDE AND PREJUDICE will be released late next month to Pakistani audiences. The release of the film is expected to boost the dying film industry and promote more co-productions between India and Pakistan.

The film’s release will definitely scupper the plans of those producers who are aiming to overwhelm audiences with low-budget films. Instead, it is believed that a high-budget film like ‘Bride and Prejudice’ will boost the level of cinematic production in Pakistan. Many view this as a necessary stepping-stone to the co-production of films between India and Pakistan.

Austen film costumes exhibited in Huntsville

This fall the Hunstville Museum of Art is the national debut venue for the exhibition entitled Fashion in Film: Period Costumes for the Screen. Thirty-five costumes from period movies are part of the exhibit; among those movies are PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and SENSE AND SENSIBILITY.

This costume worn by Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy is featured on the preview page. However, having scanned through the movie just now I couldn’t spot the scene where he wore it. I saw his stripey waistcoast several times, did a slight swoon over his grey greatcoat, and found he favored light-colored waistcoats for formal evening events. But I didn’t see his blue waistcoat with brass (I believe) buttons anywhere.

Perhaps someone else will have better luck than I.

The exhibit will be displayed until January 23, 2005.

More information about the exhibit is available here.
