“Pride and Prejudice” Quote of the Day

Filed under: Jane in the News, Pride and Prejudice (2005) — Tasha @ 10:37 pm

The Scotsman listed the following as one of its Quotes of the Day:

It’s none of your business” – Actor Matthew Macfadyen, when asked by a reporter about his interpretation of the character Mr Darcy whom he will play in a new film version of Pride and Prejudice.

We here at AustenBlog Central are becoming increasingly more disappointed that Macfayden wasn’t cast as Mr. Bingley. The role would have suited him so wonderfully . . .

New P&P 2005 Photos

Keira Knightley Wavefront has posted more photos from the set of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. Most of the new photos are located on the second page, including several new shots of the Bennet sisters and their mother. The AustenBlog staff is definitely relieved to see some pastel colors on those ladies!

EDITED to add: A few more new photos can also be found at thezreview.co.uk.

The Importance of Being Darcy

Filed under: Jane in the News, Pride and Prejudice (2005) — Tasha @ 10:53 am

The Arts Telegraph has published an interview with Matthew Macfayden, who plays Mr. Darcy in the upcoming version of “Pride and Prejudice.”

The one thing that our AustenBlog Readers were able to garner from this interview is that Mr. McFayden is no great fan of our dear Jane, or, it seems, of Colin Firth.

We have concluded, therefore, that either he’s being completely honest, or that he’s simply staying in character. (We hope it’s the latter.)

1995 PRIDE AND PREJUDICE declared the definitive version

Filed under: Jane in the News, Screen — Tasha @ 10:39 am

An article in The Telegraph from Calcutta, India, declares that many of the new adaptations of “Pride and Prejudice” might turn out to be “a purist’s nightmare.”

The article continues to describe the 1995 version, starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, as “the best version filmed so far.”

This particular AustenBlog reporter is highly inclined to agree with this author.
