“Pride and Prejudice” Italian-American style?

Author Adriana Trigiani has written a new novel entitled Queen of the Big Time, which supposedly is a remake of P&P set in Pennsylvania:

While her eldest sister agreed to an arranged marriage, Nella and her younger sisters are allowed to choose their own mates. She falls hard for Renato Lanzara, a handsome man from town, who, though seven years her senior, shares her devotion to literature. His rival for her affections is Franco Zollerano, a muscular mechanic who works with her at the factory.

If this all sounds too much like an Italian-American version of Jane Eyre or Pride and Prejudice transplanted to Pennsylvania, it is.

Even though the AustenBlog Research Team has not read this novel, we can safely assume that it is not an Italian-American version of Jane Eyre, although we are still investigating the correlation which our dear Jane’s work.
