Chatsworth to serve as Pemberley

Filed under: Pride and Prejudice (2005) — Tasha @ 9:53 pm

Matlock Today reports that Chatsworth will be representing Pemberley in the upcoming production of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. Filming is set to take place from September 27 to September 29, both in and outside the house.

We here at AustenBlog think it fitting that Chatsworth be cast as Pemberley, especially since our dear Jane supposedly used it as her original inspiration for Darcy’s estate. Pity they haven’t got a proper pond, though . . .

World’s youngest Austen expert?

Hey Keira, we’ve found you a new costume designer! Manchester Online reported 11 year-old Jessica Corderly from Bolton, England showing off her Regency fashion savvy on the British show Mastermind, and showing up host John Humphrys in the process:

Humphrys, 61, attempting a little banter between rounds, asked Jessica if she could see herself living in the Regency period.

She replied: “I don’t really think so, no.”

Undeterred, Humphrys continued: “Nothing about it at all?

“You don’t fancy yourself in a crinoline dress?”

Taking no prisoners, Jessica, who remembered that the crinoline craze began in the 1830s, coolly told him: “No, because that was in Victorian times.”

So, what do you think? She’s even holding up a copy of an Austen book in the article - it looks like it might be Pride and Prejudice!
