New crop of photos from PRIDE AND PREJUDICE set

Filed under: Pride and Prejudice (2005) — Mags @ 11:14 pm

Mary sends links to some new P&P3 set photos, which she found via the Republic of Pemberley:

Jane

Lydia (who apparently has sole custody of the only hairbrush at Longbourn)

Mrs. Bennet

Elizabeth

Elizabeth again

And what you’ve all been waiting for. . . Mr. Darcy.

We also located another photo of Mr. Bennet on the same site.

Sandy Lerner on BBC Radio “Woman’s Hour”

Filed under: Jane in the News — Mags @ 10:56 pm

Sandy Lerner, entrepreneur, philanthropist and Janeite extraordinaire, was interviewed on the BBC Radio “Woman’s Hour” program about the Chawton House Library. She was the leader of the renovation of the deteriorated Great House at Chawton, owned by the descendants of Jane Austen’s brother Edward, into a study center for 18th century women’s literature, a sadly neglected area of scholarship.

Incidentally, Sandy and the co-founders of Cisco Systems pretty much invented the Internet, or at least the technology to make it possible, so we quite literally would not be here without her.

Thanks to Julie B. for the heads up!

Report: BRIDGET JONES: THE EDGE OF REASON release delayed

Filed under: Screen — Mags @ 10:35 pm

Ireland On-line reports that the release date of BRIDGET JONES: THE EDGE OF REASON has been pushed back from the scheduled November 2004 date to January 2005.

The release of the eagerly-awaited Bridget Jones sequel has been put back till next year, because producers aren’t happy with the final cut.

[. . .]

According to British magazine Now, producers Working Title have decided to tamper with the movie after disappointing test screening results in Los Angeles. Viewers reportedly bestowed favourable, but not glowing feedback - complaining the comedy was too slapstick, with Zellweger’s character too much like a female Mr Bean.

We stress that this report has not been corroborated by any other media outlet. The Working Title Films site lists the release date for BJ:EOR as November 2004. We will continue to watch this story as it develops.

Thanks for Tasha for the heads-up!
