All the appearance of goodness

Filed under: Pride and Prejudice (2005) — Mags @ 9:58 pm

The Swedish (thanks, Cairbre!) photo site that is linked in an earlier post has added some photos of costumed cast members, including the ones we formerly linked to on KeiraWeb.com and some new ones of Brenda Blethyn and Donald Sutherland as Mrs. and Mr. Bennet. Click on “Nasta” to get to the next photo in the album.

In other P&P3 filming news, the Internet Movie Database is listing Rupert Friend as portraying Mr. Wickham. Rupert also has a role in the upcoming Johnny Depp film THE LIBERTINE. There are links to photos of Rupert from that film on Oh Johnny!, a Johnny Depp fan site. Click here for another good photo of Rupert.

    It’s swedish. Ja!

  2. Mary Says:

Definitely an improvement over P&P2’s Wickham!

Ah, thank you, Cairbre! I saw something about “finni” in there so I jumped to a conclusion. It’s nice to know for sure!

Mary, I think Adrian Lukis was a FABULOUS Wickham! He was such a slime, but so tall and handsome and everything a young man should be! I’m re-reading P&P now and he really nailed it–Wickham is said to have “gentle” manners, and Lukis is very soft-spoken when he’s trying to make himself pleasing to Elizabeth.

I still love Mr. Bennet’s line: “He simpers and smirks and makes love to us all.” Weasel!

  4. Mary Says:

I thought he acted the part well. I just think he should have been better looking.

  5. Mags Says:

I think he’s better-looking “in real life” than he is in the miniseries–the Elvisish Regency hairstyle doesn’t really do anything for him. I like the big broad-shouldered type, though, so he appeals to me in that respect.

Rupert Friend is certainly prettier. :-)
